Lauren Adkins is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT) who has been described by her clients as being curious, warm, clear, and creative. She is passionate about relationships and believes in the strength of developing healthy connections with others. She specializes in helping individuals, couples, families, and teens ages 12 and older navigate a variety of concerns, including life transitions, depression and anxiety, ADHD, autism, trauma, women’s issues, and grief and loss. Lauren also has specialized training and experience guiding couples through communication challenges, especially when those couples feel stuck in the same argumentative cycles over and over again.

Lauren takes an individualized, value-centric approach to treatment based on her client’s needs and concerns. She believes that her responsibility as a therapist is to work collaboratively with her clients to create emotional safety and gain valuable personal insights for individual growth and development. She primarily utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, Solution Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, parts work, and attachment-based systemic approaches to help clients achieve their goals.
 
Lauren is an Arizona native and grew up in Mesa and Queen Creek, Arizona. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marriage and Family Studies from Brigham Young University – Idaho and a Master of Advanced Studies degree with distinction in Marriage and Family Therapy from Arizona State University. Before she became a therapist, Lauren worked in the mental health industry for over five years and found her favorite part of her job to be working directly with clients and hearing their stories. When Lauren isn’t at the office, she is usually spending quality time with her husband and six-year-old daughter exploring Arizona. She enjoys crocheting, drawing, painting, music, and trying new restaurants, as well as watching TV shows and movies.
